Daniela Caputo
For nearly three decades, Daniela Caputo and her company Montreal Event Planner has been the go-to authority, due to her wealth of experience and expertise in the industry. Not only does she run her now, 12 year old, Meeting Planning Agency. She has developed a reputation for professionalism in various aspects: client services, project management to marketing, event execution, negotiations and sourcing, just to name a few. This puts her at the forefront of event planning not only in Montreal, but internationally.
Daniela is regularly featured and interviewed in industry publications such as; Ottawa Wedding Magazine, The Planner and Elegant Wedding. In addition, Daniela was recently invited to write a weekly Destination Blog for The Suburban’s online newspaper edition. Last year, was awarded the prestigious title “FEMMES EN AFFAIRES 2014”.
Given her expertise and reputable success, Daniela also finds the time to teach various courses on meeting/wedding planning at different institutions. She is also sought out for motivational speaking engagements on a number of different entrepreneurial subjects at numerous industry conferences.
Kathie James
Kathie James has been part of the wedding community in Calgary for the past 40 years. She started her career in the Bridal Fashion business owning three bridal salons at which time she ventured into Bridal Show production as a way of promoting her businesses. In 1992 she sold her retail outlets and continued with producing The Wedding Fair an annual event every January that continues to be the largest spring show in Western Canada. In 1998 she started Bridal Expo filling the gap for a fall event in the marketplace. In addition to the shows she was Publisher and editor of Calgary Bride Magazine which she founded in 1995. She served on the Board of Directors for Bridal Shows Producers International for 10 years and has received numerous awards including the industry’s most prestigious award – The Director’s Cup in 2014. Kathie is also a long standing member of Calgary’s ILEA Chapter. We are so grateful to have Kathie a new addition our amazing pannel of judges. Thank you Kathie and all of our other judges for participating in the panel of judges this year
Laura DiGirolamo
Laura is from Raleigh, North Carolina and the co-owner with her husband Dominick of Forever Bridal Productions Ltd and the Triangle Bridal Association. Forever Bridal Productions Ltd is a proud member of Bridal Show Producers International (BSPI). A fixture at the annual BSPI conferences, Laura and her husband Dom have set trends, served as industry expert panel members to other show producers, and are 3-time BSPi Star Award winners for image, branding and marketing pieces. In 2010, Laura was voted by the membership to a board member position where she served 2 consecutive terms as the director of Image and Branding for BSPI. In 2013 Laura was awarded the Spirit of BSPi Award and in 2015 she was awarded the industry’s most prestigious award, Director’s Cup. Laura is currently the Co-Managing Director and will become the Managing Director in April of 2016. Laura also has a degree in interior design.
Lianna Mackie
Lianna is a WPIC certified wedding planner and worked in the industry for 9 years. She began her career working at Strathmere helping coordinate beautiful country-estate weddings. From there she moved on to the Ottawa Convention Centre (now Shaw Centre) and planned some of the largest and most intricate weddings of her career. Lianna has also worked at the Ottawa Conference and Event Centre as a Sales Manager planning conferences, conventions, galas and weddings. Before retiring from the Wedding and Events industry she worked at the Delta Ottawa City Centre in a Marketing role, while still managing to squeeze in some free time to help friends and family plan their own weddings. Lianna now uses her skills and talents learned in the wedding and events industry on a daily basis in her new role at Mackie Homes, her family owned home building company, where she designs new construction homes and can manage the timeline of building a home much the same as a timeline of planning a wedding.
Roxy Zapala
She is the founder and the creative director of Art of Celebrations. She is a wedding industry’s triple threat – a floral designer (co-owner of Flower Parade Inc.), an interior design consultant and a wedding planner. With a diploma in interior design and an extensive background in floristry, she has been working in special event production for the last 17 years. After creating thousands of stunning floral displays for weddings and other functions she decided to further hone her expertise and became a certified event planner and a certified destination wedding planner. Her work has been featured in numerous magazines including: WedLuxe, Elegant Weddings, Weddingbells, Today’s Bride and more. She was also featured on Rogers TV show The Event Manager.
Roxy has an exceptional eye for all things beautiful. She is a hopeless romantic, a connoisseur of fine cuisine and a true lover of art, music and travel. She appreciates all the fine things life has to offer and believes in making lasting impressions. These are the precise reasons why she produces unforgettable events that are sure to be talked about for years to come.
